General Resources

The Mental Health Foundation offers advice for parents and carers about a variety of mental health needs in children and young people

Young Minds offers information about various mental health conditions and where to get help.

Mentally Healthy Schools is a school wide approach to looking after mental health.

Childline is full of information and useful resources about mental health and has child friendly activities for you to complete as a family.

Anna Freud National Centre is a help-centre dedicated tothe mental health and wellbeing of children and families. 

The Children's Society offers mental health support from "Pause". This is targeted at children and young people (0-25 years)

Building Self Esteem

 

Young Minds has a dedicated self-esteem section of their website.

The Children's Society features a "Pause" section - this has child friendly explanations of what self-esteem is and other useful resources to share as a family.

The Anxious Child is a PDF booklet produced by Mental Health UK and has information on how to deal with anxiety in children.

Anxiety UK is a charity dedicated to supporting children and young people with anxiety.

Young Minds has a section about supporting a child with anxiety and getting help.

Priory Group has an illustrated guide to anxiety.

Mindfulness

Cosmic Kids Yoga is a YouTube channel with 5-30 minute yoga and mindfulness activities for kids, featuring Frozen, Pokemon and Minecraft!

The BBC has published 10 Mindfulness Exercises for Kids - these exercises can be completed anywhere.

Go Noodle is a series of videos, designed for mindfulness, reflection and brain breaks.

Mindfulness means paying full attention to something. It means slowing down to really notice what you're doing. Being mindful is the opposite of rushing or multitasking. When you're mindful, you're taking your time. You're focusing in a relaxed, easy way.

Bereavement and Loss

Winston's Wish is a bereavement charity, offering support for families in times of need.

Child Bereavement UK offers support for children who have suffered loss or those who have lost a child. Their support extends from 0-25 years.
